The GE Proficy Historian TagProvider connects to GE Proficy Historian servers at runtime. Configure this TagProvider to enable data integration and visualization without local Tags. This setup allows incorporation of GE Proficy Historian data into applications, enhancing data-driven decision-making and operational processes.

Configuration

To set up GE Proficy Historian as a TagProvider, navigate to Unified Namespace → TagProvider Connections and select the GE Proficy Historian Connector option.

To connect to the GE Proficy Historian server, enter the server address in the Server. By default, it is set to localhost but you can change it to any valid IP address or hostname. Next, input the required username in the Username field for authentication purposes. Finally, provide the corresponding password in the Password to complete the authentication process.

Provider

Specifies the system the TagProvider will interface with. In this case, it interfaces with the GE Proficy Historian Connector.

Access Mode

Determines permissions for interacting with tags.

Read allows data reading.

Write permits data writing.

ReadWrite enables both reading and writing.

StoreAndForward

Enables the Store and Forward feature to buffer data locally when the server connection is lost.

Name

User-defined name for the TagProvider instance. Identifies the specific configuration in the system.

Description

Defines a short description for TagProvider's purpose or the systems it interfaces with. Provides context for its usage.

ProtocolOptions

Defines specific communication settings for the connection to the device. True or False.

Connection

Defines connection string for the GE Proficy Historian, including server, username, and password.

Server

Specifies the server name where the GE Proficy Historian is hosted.

Username

Specifies the username for authentication with the GE Proficy Historian server.

Password

Specifies the password for authentication with the GE Proficy Historian server.

Test

Verifies the connection settings to ensure successful communication with the specified server.
