System Requirements

The tables below show the system requirements for the proper installation and operation of the Product.

.Net Framework

Description

.Net Framework is a software framework developed by Microsoft, which runs primarily on Microsoft Windows.

It allows language interoperability (each language can use code written in other languages) across several programming languages.

Because computer systems commonly require interaction between newer and older applications, .Net Framework provides means to access functions implemented in newer and older programs that are executed outside the .Net environment. Even though the Product requires .Net Framework v4.6.2, versions v2.X and v3.X are also required in order to take advantage of all OPC related features.

Due to this technology, the Operational System does not need to be Windows. It can be Linux/Ubuntu.

Using TSmartClient

One of the advantages of using the TSmartClient tool is the possibility of running a Client without having the software installed.

However, the computer must have .Net Framework installed in order to use this tool.

Memory Manager

The OS is responsible for memory and resources management.

In a Project, each Module is treated as a different Process. The same goes for configured Devices > Channels. Projects with many Channels tend to consume more computational power.

Each Module's performance can be monitored through the OS Task Manager.
