Each device connected to the system through channels is called a Node. Nodes can be individual devices or groups of devices. Each node contains one or more Points. The configuration of Nodes is on the Solution Explorer, at Devices → Nodes. This page explains how to create nodes and also how to import them from various sources.
On this page:
Creating Device Nodes
To create a new node, follow these steps:
- Access Devices → Nodes.
- Click the plus icon to add a new node.
- Select a channel to associate the node, and fill in its name and description.
- Click Ok.
After completing the above steps, the Node is created.
You can configure and existing node by double-clicking the property you want to edit on the corresponding row.
DeviceNode Properties
The following table describes each available property you can configure when editing a Node:
If a property column is not visible on the grid, enable it by right-clicking the grid header and selecting it from the list.
Column | Description |
---|---|
Name | Name of the Node. |
Channel | The Device Channel for this Node. For more information about the configuration for common protocols, click Help at the top of the tab. |
Primary Station | The information required to access the primary Node, based on the protocol selected. |
Backup Station | The required information to access the backup Node. When the backup station is defined, and a communication failure occurs on the primary station, the system automatically attempts to establish communication with the backup station. |
Sync Date | The date that the import was done. |
Sync Station | Information about the station where the import was done Station IP, Port and Slot. |
Sync Settings | Information about the settings used by the system to import the file. |
Description | Description for this Node. |
Importing Nodes from PLC Addresses
Additionally, you can simplify the creation of communication Nodes with various methods for automatic data configuration import. Access the Importing PLC Addresses for further information about the process and configurations available.
