The File Configuration Properties configuration and properties in the Dataset module allow users you to manage and customize file-related settings efficiently. This feature simplifies file management and enhances data handling within the dataset, providing flexibility and clarity for users.

Files

To create and configure a Database File follow these steps:

  1. Access Datasets → Files.
  2. Click the plus icon.
  3. Enter a Name and Description for the File, and clicknew File.

  4. Click Ok.

  5. In the list of Dataset Tables

The new File will show up in the data grid. To edit any property of the new File, double-click the property you wish to edit on the

Column

Description

Name

Enter a name for the file configurationThe File's name. The system allows you to know if the name is not validwill warn you in case of you choose an invalid name.

File Name

Enter Specify the full path to the fileFile. The file path can have Tag values embedded using curly brackets bracket syntax. For example ExampleFile{{tag.Test}}.txt. 

When executing, the area in curly brackets is replaced by the Tag's value of the Tag.

File Type

Select Specify the file type of file.. The following options are available:

  • Unicode
  • ASCII
  • XML

Objects

Click the button with three dots (...) to select the tags that you want to populate with data from the file with data from specific columns.

Description

Enter a description for the file configurationThe description for the File. Provide a meaningful description to make it easier to execute maintenance in the future.

XML Schema Type

Represents the schema type of an XML file, which can be:

  • A Tag List XML
  • that
  • contains a tag list with the
  • tag
  • Tag name and
  • tag
  • value.
  • A Tag Object XML that
  • contains
  • includes the entire tag tree and its children.
